About the position

The plant HR Generalist provides day-to-day tactical support for the manufacturing non-union sites. This role involves working closely with site managers in the administration and development of a variety of HR policies and procedures, including employee relations, talent acquisition, training and development, compensation, benefit plans, and HRIS systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to develop their career with a growing company. The position will be based 3 days per week at Spencer Aerospace in Valencia, CA, and 2 days per week at SSP in Burbank, CA. In this role, you will support business growth by managing recruitment using Senior's online recruitment system, “Recruit,” from advertising vacancies to new hire procedures. You will also manage employee relations by thoroughly investigating, resolving, and communicating employee questions, issues, concerns, and grievances for the facility. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with line managers and colleagues is essential. You will drive day-to-day people processes, such as performance reviews, training and development needs, and employee engagement, including the local administration of the Global Engagement Survey. Additionally, you will track HR metrics, such as turnover metrics and retention, and provide recommendations for improvements. You will own, implement, and maintain HR processes, including On/Off Boarding, HR systems maintenance, and Leaves of Absence (LOAs). As a champion of HR systems, policies, and programs, you will ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws. Liaising with group HR teams on benefits administration and global online training will also be part of your responsibilities. Maintaining credibility as a subject matter expert in HR policies and procedures, you will deliver exceptional internal and external HR customer service for the company. Confidentiality is crucial, and you will need to display excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. You will also create and distribute internal and external communications, facilitate employee training and needs assessments, lead employee exit interviews, and provide feedback to management. Your role will involve refining and streamlining HR processes to ensure accuracy and improvements, as well as working with finance to manage payroll and ensure compliance with wage and hour requirements. You will always strive for improvements and change, never satisfied with the status quo.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or the equivalent of experience and education.
  • HR Certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years' HR Generalist experience including leave management, worker's compensation, employee relations, investigations, recruitment, learning and development, etc.
  • Experience in aerospace or manufacturing is desirable.
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise is a plus.
  • Customer-focused with high energy and a sense of urgency.
  • Efficient and confident in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint presentation tools.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Strong detail-oriented and organizational skills.
  • Possess accurate and updated knowledge of Federal and State laws applicable to wages, hours, working conditions, safety, employee relations, etc.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to remain calm in the face of adversity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aerospace or manufacturing is desirable.
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise is a plus.
