About the position

The HR Generalist at Stew Hansen GMC Buick will play a crucial role in managing full-cycle Human Resources processes within a dealership environment. This position is focused on fostering positive employee experiences and engagement, aligning with the company's core values of respect, integrity, growth, humility, and teamwork. The HR Generalist will support multiple dealership locations in the Des Moines metro area and will be responsible for various HR functions, including onboarding, employee retention, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

• Manage processes and activities related to full-cycle Human Resources.
• Foster positive employee experiences and engagement through company culture programs.
• Facilitate training in partnership with Regional HR and the business.
• Conduct weekly onboarding and benefits enrollment for new hires.
• Initiate coaching and counseling to help managers with employee retention and performance.
• Handle leaves of absence processes and communication, including FMLA.
• Complete accident or injury reports and submit documentation to corporate offices.
• Manage unemployment claims and other miscellaneous HR programs.

Requirements

• 2+ years of HR consulting and/or generalist experience, preferably in a large company or retail environment.
• Experience leading culture initiatives to promote a positive work culture.
• Knowledge of employment law and practices, with the ability to resolve employee relations issues.
• Familiarity with pay plans, pay structure, FLSA requirements, and employer-offered benefit plans.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt and lead change efforts.
