About the position

Atlas Roof Shingles & Underlayments is seeking a dedicated HR Generalist for our Daingerfield, TX facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive experience for all employees, visitors, customers, and vendors entering the office area. As the first point of contact, the HR Generalist will assist the HR Manager in administering all employee benefit programs, including gain share, various insurances, 401(k), and employee relations activities. The HR Generalist will also maintain and update employment records and files, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. In addition to administrative duties, the HR Generalist will be responsible for administering disciplinary and attendance procedures, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees in collaboration with plant supervision. The role includes tracking FMLA records and assisting employees in their interactions with the local vendor. The HR Generalist will also administer the on-site Drug and Alcohol Policy in partnership with the local vendor, ensuring compliance and safety within the workplace. The HR Generalist will pre-screen and interview all new and prospective employees, perform new employee orientations, and help gather data in response to unemployment claims, union grievances, and any federal or state agencies dealing with employee matters. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will oversee the safety shoe and safety glass reimbursement program, complete projects as assigned or requested, and maintain professional relationships with employees, the community, union representatives, and various organizations to ensure company goodwill.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience in Human Resources or a business-related discipline required.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is a must.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from various databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly (both orally and written) to personnel from a variety of functional areas.
  • Ability to serve as a professional contact to vendors, contractors, and customers entering the office area.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
