About the position

The HR Generalist position is a vital role within the Human Resources Department, operating under the supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources. This position serves as the initial point of contact for the department, providing essential support and assistance to both internal and external customers. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with other HR team members to achieve departmental goals and ensure the smooth operation of HR functions. The role is designed for a term of 12 months, encompassing 260 working days, with standard working hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The salary for this position is to be determined based on qualifications and experience. In this role, the HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of tasks that require a high level of customer service and attention to detail. The position demands proficiency in handling sensitive and confidential information, as well as a solid understanding of HR practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in an educational environment, which is preferred but not mandatory. The HR Generalist will be expected to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, ensuring that all HR-related inquiries and processes are managed efficiently and professionally. The HR Generalist will also be tasked with maintaining personnel files, processing retirements and resignations, and managing compliance paperwork. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The HR Generalist will provide backup support to other HR team members and assist with job postings and various administrative tasks as needed. Overall, this position plays a crucial role in supporting the HR department's mission and objectives, contributing to a positive work environment and effective HR service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level front line customer service via telephone and in person to internal and external customers
  • Prepare and monitor unemployment claims
  • Generate employee ID badges
  • Complete employment verifications
  • Maintain records room
  • Maintain personnel files for all employees and update changes and manage filing
  • Assist with various mailings utilizing mail merge
  • Process retirements and resignations and assist employees through the process
  • Process incoming mail
  • Maintain third party paperwork and ensure compliance
  • Obtain all necessary coach paperwork and maintain
  • Process Act 48 uploads
  • Manage and track Act 168 paperwork
  • Perform functions confidentially, accurately and with minimum need for supervision
  • Provide back up and assistance to other members of the HR Department
  • Assist with job postings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3-5 years Human Resource Office experience
  • Proficient in typing and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in an educational environment preferred
  • Knowledge of HR practices including handling of confidential, sensitive information
  • General Educational requirements
  • Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with department to accomplish goals
  • Effective communication skills with customers, internally and externally
