About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Feralloy Corporation plays a vital role in supporting the HR department by managing various HR functions that are essential for the smooth operation of the organization. This position is based in Portage, IN, and is primarily on-site, with some flexibility to work remotely as needed. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including recruitment, employee benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HR principles and practices and will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced warehouse and office environment. In this role, the HR Generalist will assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews. They will also conduct new employee orientations, ensuring a smooth onboarding process, which includes assisting with benefit enrollment and managing offboarding needs. Maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable HR policies and procedures is crucial, as is addressing employee inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. The HR Generalist will escalate complex HR issues through the appropriate channels and ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Additionally, the HR Generalist will develop and deliver training on HR policies and processes, maintain data integrity while updating employee records, and help create and promote wellness and employee engagement events. Participation in job fairs and hiring events, as well as involvement in HR projects and initiatives, will also be part of the responsibilities. The role requires completing HR reporting monthly and as needed, and working with third-party vendors to manage various social media platforms related to recruitment and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure a smooth onboarding process, including assisting in benefit enrollment and managing offboarding needs.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all applicable HR policies and procedures, ensuring process compliance.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex HR issues as necessary.
  • Ensure process compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Develop and deliver training on applicable HR policies and processes.
  • Maintain data integrity while updating employee records and HR documentation.
  • Help create, promote, and implement wellness and employee engagement events/community events.
  • Attend job fairs and hiring events on and off company locations as needed.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Complete HR reporting monthly and as needed.
  • Work with a third party to help manage various social media platforms.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or related experience.
  • 2 years of experience in an HR role, or related role preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism while keeping confidentiality.
  • Ability to respond to a broad range of inquiries and requests.
  • Ability to provide training and/or direction to staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
