About the position

Life Empowerment Services is a rapidly growing private behavioral health agency located in Marietta, GA, seeking to enhance its human resource functions. The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in managing the daily HR operations of the agency under the supervision of the Director of Operations. This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, typically from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, although the schedule may vary slightly during the training period. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including but not limited to hiring and interviewing staff, managing compensation and benefits, enforcing company policies, and ensuring that all HR activities align with the agency's strategic goals. This role is essential in fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include building relationships with staff, creating and distributing internal communications, assisting with payroll processing, and collaborating with the leadership team to develop effective recruitment strategies and compensation packages. The HR Generalist will also handle complaints regarding workplace harassment, maintain employee personnel records, and ensure compliance with mandatory training and continuing education requirements. Additionally, the role involves conducting background checks, implementing new hire orientation programs, and managing employee recognition initiatives. The HR Generalist will also be involved in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations, ensuring that the agency adheres to best practices in human resources management.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships and collaborate with Life Empowerment Services staff.
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies.
  • Assist with payroll processing.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop effective recruitment strategies, compensation packages, benefits, and incentive plans.
  • Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Identify future staffing needs and create job descriptions in line with agency goals.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance management, and training.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to the overall culture of the agency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Human Resources, preferably in healthcare or service-related field.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Pass all vital background checks/screenings.
  • Strong computer and internet skills including all MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment with sensitive information.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
