About the position

The HR Generalist position at Horton, Inc. is a vital role that focuses on total rewards, compliance, and HRIS systems administration. This position is based in Roseville, MN, and is an onsite role. The HR Generalist will coordinate benefit plan designs in collaboration with the VP of HR and the broker, leading the annual enrollment process for various benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401k plans. The role also involves serving as a liaison with outside benefits administrators and insurance companies, ensuring that employees receive the necessary support and intervention when issues arise with vendors. Additionally, the HR Generalist will review compensation structures to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness, informing the annual merit process and other proposed compensation changes. In terms of HRIS responsibilities, the HR Generalist will act as the subject matter expert for the HRIS, currently utilizing UKG and iCIMS. This includes overseeing the optimal functioning of the HRIS, managing database maintenance, upgrades, permissions, and data security. The HR Generalist will collaborate with other departments to identify system improvements and will be responsible for creating accurate dashboards and reports, responding to information requests, and training new HR employees on the system. Compliance is another critical area of responsibility for the HR Generalist. This includes drafting policy documents, updating the employee handbook annually, and ensuring compliance reporting for EEO1, Vets 4212, OSHA, and other regulations. The HR Generalist will also assist with employee relations, investigations, onboarding, and offboarding processes, while supporting various HR responsibilities such as recruitment and Affirmative Action initiatives. Participation in committees such as the Employee Committee, Wellness Committee, and Safety Committee is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates benefit plan designs with VP HR and broker.
  • Leads the annual enrollment process for benefits and retirement programs.
  • Administers all benefits & retirement programs and processes annual enrollment or change requests.
  • Serves as liaison with outside benefits administrators and intervenes if employees experience problems with vendors.
  • Reviews compensation and makes recommendations for internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Manages employee leaves-of-absence requests and provides support to HR teams in other locations.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for HRIS technical support (currently UKG and iCIMS).
  • Oversees and maintains optimal functioning of the Company’s HRIS including database management and upgrades.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to identify needed system improvements and recommends solutions.
  • Creates and ensures accurate information of dashboards and reports, compiles monthly standard data reporting.
  • Responds to information requests and automates solutions where possible.
  • Trains new HR employees in the use of the HRIS system.
  • Drafts policy documents and updates the employee handbook annually.
  • Responsible for compliance reporting (EEO1, Vets 4212, OSHA, etc.).
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of employee notifications and postings.
  • Assists with employee relations, investigations, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Supports a variety of HR responsibilities and is cross-trained as a backup.
  • Maintains current and accurate information on the Human Resources Intranet page.
  • Participates in Employee Committee, Wellness Committee, Safety Committee, or United Way Campaign as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in benefits, compensation, and HRIS.
  • HR certification preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
