About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Heico is a pivotal role that encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at supporting the business unit through effective human resources practices. This position works closely with the Human Resources Manager and is integral to the full cycle of recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, labor relations, and compliance. The HR Generalist is expected to create a positive candidate experience that emphasizes inclusive recruitment and hiring practices, ensuring that all processes are aligned with the company's values and objectives. In terms of talent management, the HR Generalist partners with the HR Manager and Corporate Talent team to manage the recruitment process, maintain job descriptions, track key talent acquisition metrics, and conduct exit interviews. This role also involves scheduling and conducting pre-employment background checks, assisting new hires with electronic onboarding paperwork, and facilitating new-hire orientation and initial training. The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in administering an ongoing performance management program and collaborates with supervisors and managers on corrective actions and goal setting. Employee relations are another critical aspect of this position. The HR Generalist consults with line management to provide HR guidance, supports employees in resolving job-related conflicts, and develops programs to enhance employee engagement. This includes organizing events, recognition programs, and conducting regular visits to various workspaces to maintain positive relationships with employees and management. Additionally, the HR Generalist is responsible for HR administration and total rewards, which includes generating payroll reports, maintaining employee files, conducting benefits open enrollment, and coordinating leave of absence programs. The role requires a strong understanding of employment law and compliance, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders. Overall, the HR Generalist is expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle recruiting and maintain job descriptions and FLSA classifications.
  • Track key talent acquisition metrics and conduct exit interviews.
  • Create an inclusive candidate experience during recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Schedule and conduct pre-employment background checks and assist new hires with onboarding paperwork.
  • Facilitate new-hire orientation and initial training, coordinating with supervisors for employee placement.
  • Administer an ongoing performance management program using company tools.
  • Partner with supervisors on corrective actions, PIPs, IDPs, and goal setting.
  • Enter all personnel transactions accurately into HRIS and SharePoint payroll site.
  • Consult with line management to provide HR guidance and support.
  • Develop solutions to increase employee engagement through events and recognition programs.
  • Manage employee recognition and service awards, administering surveys promptly.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, management, and union representatives.
  • Conduct regular visits to various workspaces within the facility.
  • Support training initiatives for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Generate payroll reports and maintain attendance tracker.
  • Keep employee files updated and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
  • Act as backup HR Manager for payroll and ensure policy compliance.
  • Conduct annual benefits open enrollment and coordinate Leave of Absence programs.
  • Guide managers and employees on leave law interactions with PTO and disability benefits.
  • Monitor wage and hour rules to ensure compliance with laws.
  • Provide system support for HRIS and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of HR communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field; PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, production, or hospitality.
  • Experience with unions and collective bargaining agreements strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, regulations, and statutes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems, adaptable to various computer programs.
  • Strong analytical skills for executive-ready presentations and reports.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, including under pressure.
  • Effective prioritization, organization, and judgment considering risk/reward and legal requirements.
  • Skilled in presenting information and responding to various stakeholders.
  • Maintains confidentiality, professionalism, and decorum.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to travel less than 5%.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $70,000 to $85,000 per year.
