About the position

The HR Generalist at Nucor Rebar Fabrication Northeast plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources functions within the organization, particularly in the Milford, MA location. The HR Generalist is responsible for coordinating and executing various HR initiatives, including benefits administration, leave of absence management, and workers' compensation administration. The role also involves implementing wellness initiatives and providing support for the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). In this position, the HR Generalist will manage the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), ensuring compliance with multi-state leave laws and overseeing the company's short-term sick pay and long-term disability plans. The HR Generalist will also provide guidance to users on HRIS processes and procedures, ensuring that they align with Nucor's HR and business strategies. Additionally, the HR Generalist will oversee various employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, 401(k), and flexible spending plans. They will develop communication strategies for open enrollment in collaboration with regional HR teams and champion wellness initiatives by preparing materials for monthly wellness and safety meetings. The role also includes managing the leave of absence program, producing HR metric reports, and acting as a backup to the Payroll Administrator when necessary. Overall, the HR Generalist will play a vital role in fostering a positive work environment and supporting the HR needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute division benefits administration.
  • Manage leave of absence programs and ensure compliance with FMLA and multi-state leave laws.
  • Administer workers' compensation processes and reporting.
  • Implement wellness initiatives and prepare materials for safety meetings.
  • Provide HRIS support and guidance to users.
  • Oversee various employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance.
  • Develop open enrollment communication strategies with regional HR teams.
  • Manage the maintenance of the HRIS/Timekeeping system.
  • Produce HR metric reports including turnover and headcount.
  • Act as backup to Payroll Administrator during absences or heavy workloads.
  • Manage the Student Scholarship Program.
  • Coordinate Service of Process notices for timely administration.
  • Support ad-hoc reporting requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an HR role.
  • Extensive experience with web-based human resources platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with reporting capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP/Success Factors.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce (Ceridian) HR/Payroll Web Application.
  • Experience working in a multi-state HR support environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction HR support environment.
