About the position

The HR Initiatives Program Manager at Alaska Airlines is responsible for defining and executing the strategic roadmap for the People Team. This role focuses on managing high-priority initiatives, including integration projects and system replacements, while ensuring effective collaboration across divisions and with external stakeholders. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to influence and guide project managers in achieving program goals.

Responsibilities

  • Own the People Team strategic roadmap including visioning, goals, and the yearly planning process.
  • Ensure the successful execution of the top priorities of the People Team as a subject matter expert in program and project management.
  • Define resource requirements and budgets for initiatives.
  • Define individual project structure within the overall program and provide guidance and mentorship to project managers.
  • Work across divisions and with external stakeholders to document and build project plans around complex scope.
  • Partner with SMEs in process improvement, business analysis, and change management to support program execution.
  • Identify, develop contingency planning, escalate and mitigate issues and risks.
  • Monitor and effectively communicate program progress with data analysis, metrics, and status reporting to stakeholders including senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to save time/cost or to increase benefits.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in project or program management or similar area.
  • Bachelor's degree, or an additional 2 years of training/experience in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to manage expectations in a high-pressure, deadline filled environment.
  • Ability to identify problems and collaboratively develop alternatives for solutions.
  • Experience with MS Office suite and SmartSheet.
  • Strong analytical, communication and people skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in Human Resources.
  • Experience using metrics and reports to manage/monitor workload.
  • Consultative, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders.
