About the position

The HR Leave and Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting HR Business Partners and leadership by managing employee leave of absence processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This entry-level position is essential for maintaining high employee engagement and operational efficiency within the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for HR Business Partners and HR Leadership.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador for applicants and employees, monitoring employee engagement.
  • Handle documentation related to Leave of Absence (LOA), Unemployment, and Employment Verification.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding employment and leave policies.
  • Assist leaders, employees, and candidates with questions related to employment and onboarding.
  • Support HR Business Partners with employee engagement metrics and special projects.
  • Review incoming unemployment claims and prepare appeal packets in collaboration with leadership.
  • Monitor unemployment hearing requests and prepare leaders for participation.
  • Review I-9s and work authorizations for compliance with federal regulations.
  • Run monthly e-verify reports to ensure compliance.
  • Administer leave of absence requests, validating eligibility and maintaining medical certifications.
  • Communicate changes in employee leave status to relevant departments.
  • Calculate and track leave usage for employees on FMLA and MLOA.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in an administrative support role required.
  • Previous experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Problem identification and solution development skills.
  • High levels of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to work well with others and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail.
