About the position

The HR Manager at WestRock Company will play a crucial role in the Human Resources team, focusing on managing employee relations, training and development, recruitment, and compliance with HR policies. This position involves advising management, implementing corporate HR initiatives, and leading change management efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations and communication within the organization.
  • Oversee training and development programs for employees.
  • Coordinate recruitment and staff planning efforts.
  • Administer compensation and performance management processes.
  • Provide HR leadership and support to facility operations.
  • Implement corporate HR initiatives and lead change management efforts.
  • Consult with management on organizational design and effectiveness.
  • Assess organizational capabilities and identify talent development opportunities.
  • Analyze employment-related concerns and develop action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and legal regulations.
  • Lead and develop the HR team to achieve performance excellence.
  • Foster continuous improvement in HR operations and processes.
  • Build and drive a positive company culture and champion DEI&B goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management or a related Business degree.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a Human Resources business partner or generalist role.
  • Experience in manufacturing and field/site HR operations.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment law.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and HRIS software.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve employee conflicts objectively.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including negotiation and collaboration.
  • Strong time management, project planning, and organizational skills.
  • Interest in understanding financial and operational aspects of the business.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) such as talent acquisition and total rewards.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and technology.
