About the position

McCarthy Services is seeking an HR Manager to join our leadership team in Lorton, VA. This role is pivotal as it acts as a strategic HR business partner, bridging the gap between management and employees. The ideal candidate will adopt a hands-on approach, focusing on enhancing employee engagement and fostering a positive workplace culture. The HR Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating various human resources functions, including employee engagement events, personnel policies, and ensuring compliance with safety training regulations. In this position, the HR Manager will establish and maintain a positive employer-employee relationship, promoting high morale among staff. The role involves working closely with managers to reduce turnover rates and improve employee retention. The HR Manager will provide current and prospective employees with essential information regarding company policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, promotional opportunities, and employee benefits. Additionally, the HR Manager will ensure accurate documentation of personnel changes and maintain employee files in compliance with legal standards. The HR Manager will also be responsible for identifying legal risks and ensuring compliance with government reporting requirements for EEO, ERISA, and Wage & Hour regulations. This includes managing the staffing process, administering pre-employment testing, conducting interviews, and performing reference checks on potential candidates. The HR Manager will plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive attitude towards the company's objectives and culture. Furthermore, the HR Manager will communicate and implement policies and procedures that align with the company's needs while adhering to regulatory guidelines. Collaborating with the division human resources manager, the HR Manager will address succession planning issues, identifying internal strengths for filling key openings within the service center. Providing feedback on employees' potential for promotion based on performance reviews and personal interactions will also be a critical aspect of this role. Maintaining employee confidentiality and responding to information requests will be essential to uphold trust and integrity within the organization.

Responsibilities
