About the position

The Human Resources Manager position is a pivotal role that manages and supports all HR matters for plant operations across multiple sites within the Industrial Powertrain Solutions - Couplings Division. This role encompasses responsibility for locations in New Berlin, WI, Michigan City, IN, and Lincoln, NE, and includes direct oversight of an HR Generalist. The successful candidate will thrive in a hands-on leadership capacity, demonstrating integrity, neutrality, and trust while leveraging their HR leadership knowledge and expertise to foster a positive work environment. In this role, the HR Manager will develop solid and trusting relationships with functional leaders and associates at the supported locations. They will provide day-to-day direction in all aspects of human resources, which includes recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and performance management. The HR Manager will ensure that organizational practices and policies are consistently applied across the sites and comply with corporate policies and external government requirements. A key focus will be on driving company values and cultivating a safety culture. The HR Manager will also be responsible for structuring and enhancing the organizational culture, improving employee communications, and fostering engagement at the sites. They will support employees on various HR-related topics and resolve any issues that may arise. Additionally, the HR Manager will partner with site leadership to understand and execute the Annual Operating Plans, manage the Business Talent Review Process, and oversee the recruitment, retention, evaluation, and placement of key talent, including succession planning and training initiatives. The role also involves overseeing the daily workflow of the HR Generalist and ensuring consistent performance management in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solid and trusting relationships with functional leaders and associates at the locations supported.
  • Provide day-to-day direction in all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Ensure organizational practices and policies are consistently applied and compliant with corporate policy and external government requirements.
  • Drive company values and foster a safety culture across the sites.
  • Structure and drive improved culture, employee communications, and engagement for the supported sites.
  • Support employees in various HR-related topics and resolve any arising issues.
  • Partner with assigned site leadership to understand and execute the Annual Operating Plans.
  • Execute the Business Talent Review Process, including recruiting, retention, evaluation, and placement of key talent.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new employees.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the HR Generalist.
  • Uphold and influence consistent performance management of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related business field, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Minimum of 7 years of human resource experience, including previous leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and ability to build trust.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities while staying organized and detail-oriented.
  • Thorough understanding of state-specific employment laws, particularly for WI, IN, and NE.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply relevant laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential preferred.
