About the position

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, the HR Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This position is based in the Middleton, WI Bioanalytical Lab within the Clinical Research Group. The HR Manager will be a trusted advisor to site, business, and functional leaders, guiding and taking action in all aspects of human resources including performance management, employee relations, compensation, engagement, and retention. This role requires a highly motivated self-starter with a strong and well-rounded HR background, capable of driving both tactical and strategic initiatives within the organization. The HR Manager will provide high-level HR expertise and mentorship to managers on HR policies and processes, people management, and career development. Building credibility and developing positive relationships will be key to success in this role. The HR Manager will mentor managers on various issues, including the application of HR policies, restructuring, investigations, and other employee-related matters. Additionally, the HR Manager will collaborate with the talent acquisition team to drive recruitment efforts and conduct compensation analysis in partnership with subject matter experts to address local compensation needs. This position also involves supporting HR platforms with large-scale initiatives and annual processes, partnering with appropriate HR Business Partners (HRBPs). The HR Manager will participate in the broader regional HR team to drive HR projects and initiatives, and will promote manager and employee self-service adoption on HR processes and highly repeatable functional tasks. The role may also include performing other duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and impactful position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high level HR expertise, support and mentorship to managers on HR policies and processes, people management, and career development.
  • Builds credibility and develops positive relationships with business leaders.
  • Mentors managers on issues including application of HR policies and processes, restructuring, investigations, and other employee issues.
  • Works with the talent acquisition team to drive recruitment efforts.
  • Conducts compensation analysis in partnership with subject matter authorities to resolve local compensation needs and actions.
  • Supports HR platforms with large scale initiatives and annual processes, partnering with appropriate HRBPs.
  • Participates in the broader regional HR team to drive HR projects and initiatives.
  • Drives manager and employee self-service adoption on HR processes and highly repeatable functional tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of HR work experience or equivalent work experience required.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Ability to collaborate and leverage network.
  • Looks at problems with a long-term strategic view but is able to translate that into short- and long-term goals.
  • High degree of autonomy and strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with all levels of the organization.
