About the position

The Human Resources Manager position at Connecticut Renaissance is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the administration and operations of various human resource functions. This includes benefits development and administration, orientation programs, payroll processes, compensation review, performance management, legal compliance, policy and procedure development, employee relations, and recruitment and retention strategies. The HR Manager will lead a dedicated team of HR professionals and collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources and other key managers within the organization. This role is essential in supporting the HR staff and providing a comprehensive range of HR consultation and services to the organization. In this capacity, the HR Manager will participate in the development of organizational strategic planning, ensuring that HR initiatives align with the overall goals of the organization. The position requires providing support and oversight to assigned HR team members, guiding and coaching them on various issues including payroll, benefits, onboarding, training and development, recruitment, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The HR Manager will also oversee employee leaves, including FMLA, CTPL, and Worker's Compensation, and manage the annual benefit renewals and enrollment processes. Fostering an inclusive environment that engages all employees and respects diversity is a key responsibility. The HR Manager will maintain a presence in the organization's locations, focusing on performance management and staff development. Additionally, the role involves implementing training programs for all employees on relevant professional development topics and best practices. The HR Manager will also be responsible for maintaining and updating the agency's Human Resources Policies & Procedures to ensure they reflect current practices and standards. Resolving employee complaints and grievances, managing the disciplinary action process, and overseeing the internship program for administrative staff are also critical components of this role. The HR Manager will complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the HR department and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of organizational strategic planning.
  • Provide support and oversight to assigned HR team members, guiding and coaching on payroll, benefits, onboarding, training and development, recruitment, and compliance.
  • Oversee and manage employee leaves including FMLA, CTPL, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Manage annual benefit renewals and enrollment processes.
  • Oversee and manage employee 403b retirement administration and reports.
  • Foster an environment that engages all employees and respects diversity while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Maintain presence in organization's locations to provide coaching and focus on performance management and staff development.
  • Implement training programs for all employees on professional development and industry best practices.
  • Maintain and update the agency's Human Resources Policies & Procedures to reflect company practices and standards.
  • Resolve employee complaints, grievances, and investigations to resolution.
  • Manage the disciplinary action process, including warnings and terminations in conjunction with management staff.
  • Participate in agency fundraising and employee engagement activities.
  • Oversee the internship program for administrative staff.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience working progressively in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of human resource management functions and federal/state labor regulations.
  • Understanding of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity requirements and procedures.
  • Proficiency in general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
