About the position

The Human Resources Manager at West Fraser is responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of employee relations, including talent acquisition, performance management, and maintaining an effective people management system. This role emphasizes fostering a diverse and inclusive environment while ensuring compliance with employment laws and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full life cycle of employee relations including talent acquisition and performance management.
• Maintain an effective people management system that supports diversity and inclusion.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety among employees.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws to protect stakeholder interests.
• Develop positive relationships with employees and resolve employee issues using good judgment.
• Communicate effectively with employees through excellent writing skills for training and communication purposes.
• Manage HR metrics including turnover, diversity, and workforce forecasting.
• Conduct exit interviews and improve HR processes based on feedback.
• Perform post-offer screening and assessment processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management with an emphasis in Human Resources, or equivalent experience.
• SHRM-S/CP or S/PHR designation is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of HR experience, primarily in a Generalist and Manager role in an industrial environment.
• Extensive experience using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position including walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

• Experience in an industrial environment is a definite asset.
• Demonstrated experience in employee relations principles.
