About the position

The Onboarding & Engagement Specialist at Options for Community Living, Inc. plays a crucial role in the HR team by managing the onboarding and orientation processes for new staff, as well as assisting with internal recruitment. This position is focused on ensuring compliance with personnel policies and fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive workplace. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources and excellent communication skills to effectively engage with new hires and existing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the onboarding and orientation of new staff.
  • Assist with internal recruitment of staff.
  • Ensure that the agency's personnel policies and procedures are followed.
  • Receive and respond to Human Resources phone calls.
  • Coordinate staff promotions and transfers.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors for candidate selection.
  • Make job offers and update the applicant tracking system.
  • Serve as an authorized user for background checking databases.
  • Conduct new employee first day orientation.
  • Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Maintain HRIS and learning management system.
  • Perform initial entry of new hires and update records as necessary.
  • Distribute onboarding surveys and record data.
  • Notify management of trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain employee files according to federal record-keeping guidelines.
  • Be an active member of the agency's employee engagement committee.
  • Serve as back-up for performing reference checks and attending job fairs.
  • Train and remain current on employment laws.
  • Cross train on other HR functions and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree related to human resources from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, human services, or an administrative position.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
