About the position

The Onboarding & Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in the HR team at Options for Community Living, Inc., focusing on the onboarding and orientation of new staff, as well as assisting with internal recruitment. This position aims to ensure compliance with personnel policies and foster a culturally diverse and inclusive workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the onboarding and orientation of new staff.
  • Assist with internal recruitment of staff.
  • Ensure the agency's personnel policies and procedures are followed.
  • Receive and respond to Human Resources phone calls, answering questions and routing calls as necessary.
  • Coordinate staff promotions and transfers, providing guidance to supervisors for candidate selection.
  • Make job offers to selected candidates.
  • Update the applicant tracking system to track candidates throughout the recruiting and hiring process.
  • Serve as an authorized user for background checking databases.
  • Conduct new employee first day orientation and ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Maintain HRIS and learning management system, performing initial entry of new hires and updates for transfers and promotions.
  • Distribute onboarding surveys, record data, and notify management of trends with recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain employee files according to federal record-keeping guidelines, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Actively participate in the agency's employee engagement committee.
  • Serve as back-up for performing reference checks and attending job fairs.
  • Train and stay current on employment laws.
  • Cross train on other HR functions and procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required for efficient HR operations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a B.A. or B.S. degree related to human resources.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, human services, or another administrative position.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
