About the position

The HR Onboarding Specialist at OhioGuidestone is responsible for organizing and overseeing the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition into the agency. This role involves acting as the primary point of contact for new employees, facilitating communication between various stakeholders, and continuously improving the onboarding experience. The specialist will manage pre-employment activities and ensure compliance with employment laws while providing support and resources to new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the onboarding process of new employees, including document verification and providing access to HR, payroll, and benefits resources.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during candidates' onboarding, proactively communicating expectations and requirements prior to their start date.
  • Communicate effectively as a liaison between supervisors, new hires, and the HR department.
  • Identify and implement ways to improve the onboarding experience by engaging with employees and sharing best practices.
  • Initiate and schedule pre-employment onboarding activities, including background checks, reference checks, and drug screens.
  • Resolve background adjudications and other disqualifying items for candidates.
  • Coordinate and track pre-employment screening requirements such as background checks and drug screens.
  • Act as a resource for new employees' general questions.
  • Ensure all required onboarding paperwork is complete and filed.
  • Work closely with the recruiting and credentialing department.
  • Manage the electronic new hire onboarding system.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with employment laws.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required; College Degree or coursework preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
  • Knowledge of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition rules.
  • Computer literacy skills, including Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience in HR or onboarding processes.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations.
