The HR/Operations Coordinator position at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a vital role within the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND), which is dedicated to advancing research and treatment for neurodegenerative diseases. This position will report directly to the departmental HR Liaison and will engage with a diverse group of approximately 170 faculty, postdocs, and staff members. The HR/Operations Coordinator will be an integral part of a small HR-Admin-Operations team, serving as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries and processes within the department. In this role, the coordinator will manage various HR functions including staff advancements, departmental salary equity, and visa sponsorship. The individual will oversee recruitment and hiring processes, conduct new hire orientations, and manage postdoc tracking and renewals. Additionally, the coordinator will provide guidance to supervisors and hiring managers on job description development, hiring processes, recruitment options, equity and salary setting, performance management procedures, and other employee-related inquiries. The ability to analyze, prioritize, and delegate HR-related requests is essential, as is the capacity to exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate actions while consulting with the HR Liaison as necessary. The HR/Operations Coordinator will also be responsible for performing departmental HR procedures in accordance with university policies, utilizing various UCSF systems such as PCMA, HBS, Bearbuy, MyExpense, Connexxus, APRecruit, BrassRing, Advance, and ITFS. Effective interaction with faculty, staff, visitors, and community representatives is crucial, requiring the coordinator to maintain professionalism, resourcefulness, and efficiency. The role also includes training and mentoring current and future HR-Admin team members, and covering for the HR Liaison during their absence. Confidentiality in handling HR-related information is a critical aspect of this position.
