About the position

The Human Resources Operations Generalist at Bay Cove Human Services plays a crucial role in providing operational and administrative support to the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including conducting audits, reviewing CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), maintaining employee files, conducting exit interviews, and ensuring the overall organization and monitoring of HR processes. The Generalist will serve as a key resource for personnel policy and procedure guidance, ensuring that both employees and management are well-informed about HR practices and compliance requirements. In this role, the Generalist will maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment laws, responding to inquiries related to human resources and processing complaints regarding workplace harassment. The position also involves maintaining employee personnel records and acting as the lead CORI reviewer, ensuring compliance with various regulations including EEOHS, DDS, and DPPC. The Generalist will assist with processing accommodation requests, workers' compensation claims, and unemployment requests, while also managing agency audits and participating in the development of HR objectives and systems. The HR Operations Generalist will also contribute to the improvement of employee experience and the efficiency of the HR department by suggesting new procedures and policies. This includes handling exit interviews, ensuring data accuracy in HRIS, and assisting in the communication and upkeep of the employee handbook and organizational chart. Overall, this position is vital for maintaining compliance with local and national regulations and for supporting the HR department's mission to foster a positive workplace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries.
  • Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Act as the lead CORI reviewer using all applicable rules and regulations to ensure agency compliance, including EEOHS, DDS and DPPC regulations.
  • Assist with processing accommodation requests, workers compensation and unemployment requests.
  • Responsible for managing agency audits including data retrieval, kick off meetings and other related tasks.
  • Act as the backup to the talent acquisition generalist.
  • Assist with licensure and certification tracking.
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Handle all exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • 5-7 years human resources experience
  • Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
  • Understanding of personnel and compliance records management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
