About the position

The HR and Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the human resources and operational functions of the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in HR practices and operational management to ensure the alignment of company goals with employee performance and operational efficiency. Experience in a law firm environment is highly desirable. The HR and Operations Manager will work closely with the executive team to develop and implement policies, manage HR activities, and ensure smooth daily operations. Key responsibilities include overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes, managing employee relations, and developing HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements. The manager will also administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems, lead employee training and development initiatives, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. Additionally, maintaining HR records and managing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) will be essential. The role also emphasizes employee engagement and culture, where the manager will lead initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, develop programs that promote a positive workplace culture, and facilitate regular feedback sessions. Talent management is another critical area, involving the development of acquisition strategies, retention programs, and career development initiatives. In terms of operations management, the HR and Operations Manager will collaborate with the COO to develop and implement operational strategies, monitor and improve systems and processes, manage office facilities, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Compliance and risk management are also key components, ensuring the firm adheres to all employment laws and conducting regular audits of HR and operational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Manage employee relations, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems.
  • Lead employee training and development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain HR records and manage HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Develop programs and activities that promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Facilitate regular employee feedback sessions and address concerns proactively.
  • Organize team-building events and activities to strengthen collaboration and morale.
  • Develop and oversee talent acquisition strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Implement employee retention programs to reduce turnover and increase employee satisfaction.
  • Manage career development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide guidance for career growth.
  • Collaborate with the COO to develop and implement operational strategies.
  • Monitor and improve operational systems, processes, and policies.
  • Manage office facilities, including space planning, vendor relationships, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee administrative functions to ensure efficient and consistent operations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Ensure the firm complies with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage risks related to HR and operations by implementing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR and operational practices to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HR and operations management.
  • Experience working in a law firm is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and operational management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HR policies and operational procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and other relevant software tools.
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or similar HR certification is a plus.
