About the position

We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration and processing of the bi-weekly payroll for approximately 250+ full-time and part-time employees and all related payroll duties. This position is responsible for assisting with all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and 401k, as well as maintaining employee records. You will play a crucial role in our HR team while supporting our employees across HMR's multi-family portfolio. The position is based at the corporate office in Quincy, MA. Responsibilities

  • Interact daily in a professional manner with all levels of employees to address payroll, benefits, policies, procedures, and other HR programs.
  • Timely and accurately process payroll for approximately 250 full-time and part-time employees using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group).
  • Enter employee payroll changes, voluntary deductions, garnishments.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate employee data, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in employment status.
  • Maintain employee data using UKG.
  • Assist with new-hire benefit orientations.
  • Process 401(k) changes and submit approval for 401k funding.
  • Ensure employees know what benefits are offered by the company and how their benefits work.
  • Answer any questions employees have about their benefits.
  • Communicate with insurance vendors and benefit broker to resolve issues.
  • Assist in the annual open enrollment process.
  • Assist with processing leave of absence requests and paperwork.
  • Perform additional HR duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related field of business.
  • 2-3 years of previous experience with Payroll & HR administration with working knowledge of labor laws preferred.
  • Previous experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) preferred but not required.
  • Must be committed to the highest level of confidentiality, have sound judgement, and be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Have a solid understanding of Payroll and HR compliance and labor laws.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills; data driven mindset.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy is imperative.
  • Able to work on deadline in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong personal and work ethic, team player.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills - professional and courteous manner.
