About the position

Roberts Truck Center of Texas, a locally owned heavy-duty truck dealership with a 45-year history, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time Human Resources and Payroll Manager in our Amarillo, TX office. This role is pivotal in overseeing HR and payroll functions across all company locations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will manage the staffing process, which includes job postings, onboarding, and offboarding, ensuring that all job descriptions are current and compliant with applicable laws. In this position, you will be responsible for investigating employee issues and conflicts, working towards effective resolutions. You will also manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, paid time off (PTO), and 401K plans, while overseeing employee leave management, including workers' compensation, short-term and long-term disability, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance. Keeping employee information up to date in all systems is crucial, as is the responsibility of creating and maintaining new hire and personnel files. Additionally, you will run bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring that all employees are compensated accurately and on time. This role also involves generating reports related to HR and payroll to support the executive team's needs and preparing general ledger postings while entering invoices related to HR and payroll activities. The Human Resources and Payroll Manager will play a key role in shaping the company's workforce and ensuring a compliant and efficient HR operation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staffing process, including job postings, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage all employee benefit programs such as health insurance, PTO, and 401K.
  • Manage employee leave, including workers comp, short-term and long-term disability, and FMLA.
  • Keep all employee information up to date in all systems.
  • Create and maintain new hire and personnel files.
  • Run bi-weekly payrolls and ensure all employees are paid correctly.
  • Run reports related to HR and payroll to support the executive team's needs.
  • Prepare general ledger postings and enter invoices related to HR and payroll.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Preferred).
  • SHRM CP or SCP certification (Preferred).
  • 2 plus years experience in human resources and payroll.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
