About the position

Ipsen International Inc. is seeking a dedicated HR/Payroll Specialist to join our team in Cherry Valley, IL. This full-time position is essential for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, as well as managing required tax filings and generating payroll reports in accordance with company policies and procedures. The HR/Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with the internal HR team and directly with associates and managers to address payroll-related questions, processes, and issues. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail, as the specialist will handle sensitive employee information and payroll transactions. The HR/Payroll Specialist will oversee the payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accurate calculations and timely delivery. This includes the review, approval, and follow-up on various transactions within the HRM system, such as new hire entries, job and compensation changes, transfers, terminations, tax withholding, and direct deposits. The specialist will also be responsible for developing and producing all required payroll reports, ensuring that the information provided is accurate, meaningful, and timely for various internal and external partners. In addition to payroll processing, the HR/Payroll Specialist will assist with the administration of the 401(k) plan, including service tickets, funding, reporting, and auditing. The role also involves acting as a technical resource for HR and other departments, addressing inquiries and resolving problems related to payroll and HRM system functions. Training new and existing employees on HRM system processes and capabilities is also a key responsibility. The specialist will need to interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures and complete special projects as assigned. Continuous professional development and staying current with industry changes and technology are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the processing of payroll for all employees to ensure accurate calculation, timely delivery, and cost-effective operation of payroll.
  • Accurate and timely review, approval, and follow-up on transactions within HRM system including new hire entry, job and compensation changes, transfers, terminations, tax withholding, withholding orders, timekeeping, direct deposit, etc.
  • Work with a discrete, high level of confidential information including exceptional attention to detail.
  • Develop and produce all required and requested payroll reports, ensuring accurate, meaningful, and timely information to various internal and external partners.
  • Proactively develop expert level knowledge of HRM system and ensure maximization of capabilities.
  • Assist with 401(k) plan administration including service tickets, funding, reporting, auditing, etc.
  • Act as a technical resource to HR and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding payroll and HRM system functions.
  • Ensure the training of new and present employees' knowledge of HRM system processes and capabilities.
  • Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or other related degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three to five years of payroll experience required.
  • HRM system or equivalent software experience required.
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Knowledge of wage attachments and multi-state tax employment tax jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of wage and hour laws relating to employee compensation, hours worked, record keeping, etc.
  • Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills.
  • Possess strong IT skills (such as MS Office, Word, Powerpoint, HRIS systems, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage records and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information; possess strong integrity and ethical standards.
