About the position

The Human Resources Consultant role at be the change HR, Inc. is a part-time, remote position focused on providing HR consulting services to clients, particularly in the nonprofit sector. The consultant will handle various HR projects, teach workplace readiness courses, and support clients in navigating HR processes while maintaining compliance with employment laws. This role is ideal for experienced HR professionals looking for flexible work arrangements and the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming client projects such as employee handbooks, job descriptions, HR audits, and performance management tools.
• Serve as a resource for clients on a wide range of HR questions and issues.
• Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Guide clients in hiring practices, focusing on culture fit and value alignment.
• Assist in onboarding new employees and ensuring a comprehensive onboarding process.
• Train management on best practices in HR functions including hiring, terminations, and performance reviews.
• Advise management on employee issues and ensure appropriate resolutions are reached.
• Support clients in developing performance management programs aligned with core values and business goals.
• Provide guidance on benefits and compliance with regulations such as ACA and COBRA.
• Assist clients with work comp issues and offboarding processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
• At least 15 years of experience as an HR Generalist or equivalent training.
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
• HR certification from SHRM or HRCI is required.
• Strong knowledge of NY employment laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, Korean, Russian, or Tagalog.
• Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, PHR-CA, SPHR-CA, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
