About the position

The HR Consultant position at be the change HR, Inc. is a part-time role focused on providing human resources consulting services primarily in a remote setting. The consultant will handle various HR projects for clients, including employee handbooks, HR audits, and performance management tools, while also teaching workplace readiness courses to nonprofit clients. This role is ideal for experienced HR professionals who are passionate about helping others and can manage their own schedules effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming client projects such as employee handbooks, job descriptions, HR audits, and performance management tools.
  • Serve as a resource for clients on a wide range of HR questions and issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Guide clients in hiring practices, focusing on culture fit and value alignment.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees and ensuring a comprehensive onboarding process.
  • Train management teams in best practices for HR functions including hiring, terminations, and performance reviews.
  • Advise management on employee issues and ensure appropriate resolutions are reached.
  • Support clients in developing performance management programs aligned with company values and goals.
  • Provide guidance on benefits and compliance with regulations such as ACA and COBRA.
  • Assist clients with work comp issues and offboarding processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
  • HR certification from SHRM or HRCI is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, PHR-CA, SPHR-CA, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred.
