About the position

The Human Resources Representative at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support across three manufacturing facilities in Ohio. This role focuses on effective recruiting, onboarding, and administrative support for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. The position operates in a hybrid model, with approximately 50% of the work done remotely and 50% on-site at the plants.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the administrative aspects of human resource activities such as the new hire process, orientation, performance appraisals, personnel requisitions, job descriptions, and leaves of absence.
  • Source and screen candidates for hiring managers and develop relationships with community outreach programs for the Affirmative Action Program.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement new hire employee orientation processes for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Monitor employee turnover and implement programs to help reduce turnover.
  • Support hourly employee training and maintain training records.
  • Serve as the plant's FMLA coordinator and point of contact for 3rd party vendors regarding leaves of absence covered by disability and/or FMLA.
  • Monitor FMLA and short-term disability and process appropriate paperwork.
  • Monitor hourly attendance program and employee attendance records.
  • Monitor and respond to all unemployment claims.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, share beneficial information with team members, and seek ways to improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, or Business preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • One to two years of previous work experience in a related capacity, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of recruiting, employee orientation, and training on human resource matters.
  • Solid understanding of HR policies and procedures.
