About the position

The HR Specialist - Employee Relations plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive workplace by serving as the primary point of contact for employee-related inquiries, performance management, and leave of absence processes. This position is dedicated to ensuring compliance with employment laws while promoting a culture of connection and compassion within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee relations, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively address employee concerns and support management in performance-related matters.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR questions and concerns through the HR inbox and phone calls.
  • Troubleshoot employee and manager questions/challenges and maintain personnel records.
  • Consult with managers on employee counseling recommendations, team dynamic concerns, and performance feedback.
  • Assist managers with drafting counseling forms, PIPs, and termination requests, routing to HR Manager for final approval.
  • Assist with employee investigations and grievances, ensuring closure of all formal investigations.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related termination documentation.
  • Process and track leave of absence requests and communicate protected leave information to employees and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations regarding leave and accommodations.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience with people management.
  • Knowledge of property management industry.
  • Proficient in Smartsheet and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of key federal, state, and local laws and regulations such as FMLA, WA PFML, ADA, HIPPA/PHI, FLSA.
