About the position

Life Fitness is seeking a HR Specialist to play a critical role in foundational areas of Human Resources including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and employee relations. This position is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow in an environment where HR is viewed as a strategic partner. The HR Specialist will be responsible for providing HR support to Corporate functions (Finance and Legal) regarding policies, payroll and benefits, onboarding, and basic employee relations. The role involves updating and maintaining employee data in Workday, partnering with the Talent team to deliver a best-in-class recruiting and onboarding experience, managing worker's compensation and leaves of absence cases with third-party partners, administering payroll for salaried and salaried non-exempt employees, planning and delivering employee engagement events and activities, and assisting with other Human Resources special projects as required. This is a hybrid position based out of our Global HQ in Rosemont, IL, typically with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office collaboration on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Responsibilities

  • Providing HR support to Corporate functions (Finance and Legal) regarding policies, payroll and benefits, onboarding and basic employee relations
  • Updating and maintaining employee data in Workday
  • Partnering with the Talent team to deliver a best-in-class recruiting and onboarding experience
  • Managing worker's compensation and leaves of absence cases with third party partners
  • Administering payroll for salaried and salaried non-exempt employees
  • Planning and delivering employee engagement events / activities
  • Assisting with other Human Resources special projects as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Desire to learn from and grow within an HR team focused on enabling business success
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of Human Resources experience in a corporate setting
  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS system preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact with and establish trust and credibility
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple work assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
