About the position

The HR Specialist at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will be responsible for managing the recruitment process for both professional and non-professional positions within the Department of Nursing. This role involves talent sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection, as well as providing expertise on HR policies and contract implementation related to recruitment. The HR Specialist will partner with hiring managers to assess talent requirements, develop recruitment marketing plans, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations throughout the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with hiring managers to assess talent requirements and advise on hiring strategies.
  • Work with hiring managers and compensation/classification to write effective job descriptions.
  • Recommend sourcing strategies to comply with affirmative action guidelines and achieve a diverse and qualified talent pool.
  • Generate applicant pools by initiating requisitions to post new and vacant positions and prepare associated internal/external advertisements.
  • Develop new and enhanced strategies to attract and engage applicants.
  • Assure compliance with all federal and state regulations throughout the recruitment/hiring process.
  • Screen resumes and conduct phone screens to make recommendations to hiring managers.
  • Serve as an administrator for all assigned job searches and participate in candidate interviews.
  • Provide expertise on institutional policies and guidance for interview questions, assuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Run and distribute reports, monitor compliance, and gather information regarding compliance activities or issues.
  • Collaborate with support staff and hiring managers to schedule interviews.
  • Conduct reference checks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external constituents related to the recruitment process.
  • Utilize a variety of tools/techniques to drive employer branding and recruitment marketing campaigns and events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of human resources experience with recruitment responsibility.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn new programs and applications.
  • Experience and ability with providing excellent and timely customer service.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a large team environment.
  • Proven success in building relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and team members.
  • Exhibits a high level of organization and attention to detail.
