About the position

The HR Specialist - Talent Acquisition at VELCO is responsible for developing and implementing effective recruiting strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates. This role involves actively recruiting through various channels, building relationships with educational institutions, and ensuring a fair and efficient hiring process. The Specialist will also manage the applicant experience and coordinate the onboarding process for new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract diverse talent.
  • Utilize job boards, social networks, and career fairs to recruit candidates.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Vermont colleges, universities, and high schools.
  • Coordinate the full recruiting lifecycle across various open roles.
  • Support hiring managers in understanding their hiring needs and assist in the recruitment approval process.
  • Design and implement customized recruiting strategies for each vacancy.
  • Pre-screen resumes and conduct preliminary interviews to assess candidates.
  • Schedule interviews and oversee preparation of interview materials.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies during the recruitment process.
  • Manage the candidate experience throughout the interview process.
  • Coordinate the offer and onboarding processes with hiring managers and HR staff.
  • Maintain records of candidate interactions and recruitment metrics.
  • Participate in DEI initiatives and support innovative ways to enhance inclusivity.
  • Coordinate the AGILE student internship program and manage related activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in talent acquisition or recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment strategies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with educational institutions and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to hiring.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and recruitment metrics.
