About the position

The HR Specialist position at HResource Group is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive HR assistance to the company and administering policies related to all phases of human resources activity. This role is essential in managing the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring that all necessary documentation is created and maintained, including HR, medical, and workers' compensation files. The HR Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining HR systems by entering personnel actions, terminations, promotions, and pay rate changes, as well as monitoring the status of performance reviews. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Specialist will lead and maintain all E-verify reports and conduct I-9 audits to ensure compliance with federal regulations. The role requires responding to inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs, and referring more complex inquiries to the HR Director. The HR Specialist may also assist with accident investigations and prepare employee separation notices and related documentation for exit interviews, which are conducted by the HR Director to understand the reasons behind employee separations. The position also involves managing monthly employee calendars and training communications, creating and hosting employee events, and supporting the assigned HR Manager and leadership as needed. The HR Specialist will be responsible for sorting and distributing incoming emails and leads, and will perform additional duties as assigned to support the HR department's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage all new hire onboarding folders and maintain HR, medical, and workers' compensation files.
  • Maintain HR systems by entering personnel actions, terminations, promotions, and pay rate changes, and monitor performance review status.
  • Lead and maintain all E-verify reports and conduct I-9 audits.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs, referring complex inquiries to the HR Director.
  • Assist with accident investigations as needed.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation for exit interviews.
  • Manage monthly employee calendars and training communications.
  • Create and host employee events.
  • Support assigned HR Manager and leadership as needed.
  • Sort and distribute incoming emails and leads.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and employees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Professional demeanor and outgoing personality with the ability to relate to diverse clients.
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in MS Office suite, HR systems, internet software, and payroll systems.
  • General knowledge of accounting.
