About the position

The HR Specialist will oversee the human resources function for approximately 800 employees across the U.S., focusing on various HR programs and initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with employees and the HR team, reporting directly to the Director of HR & Payroll. Key responsibilities include managing onboarding, leave of absence processes, performance management, benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with HR policies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other leave processes.
  • Act as the main contact for leave inquiries, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Oversee new hire onboarding and employee offboarding, including orientations and exit procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address employee relations issues, conflicts, and performance management matters in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure adherence to HR policies and regulations.
  • Manage employee offboarding procedures, including exit interviews, return of company property, and final paperwork to ensure compliance and smooth transitions.
  • Stay informed about HR trends and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an HR related role, strong preference for work as a Generalist or Specialist.
  • Ability to work through a problem with limited information and find solutions to take the situation to the next step.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with at least an intermediate level of Excel.
  • Proactive mindset to implement and come up with solutions.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity is a plus.
