About the position

The HR Specialist position at the North Jackson Plant provides essential administrative support to the Human Resources Manager. This role focuses on various HR functions, including onboarding new employees, maintaining personnel files, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The HR Specialist serves as a resource for staff inquiries and assists with HR-related projects, making it a vital role in the HR department.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource person for ongoing staff questions.
• Audit, organize, and update personnel files to ensure accuracy.
• Track necessary personnel file documents to support company policies.
• Assist with job applicant processes, including physicals and background checks.
• Prepare and disseminate internal staff communications regarding HR updates.
• Facilitate new-hire orientation and onboarding processes.
• Stay updated on HR trends and labor laws.
• Participate in career fairs and assist with company events.
• Assist with employee benefit administration and recordkeeping.
• Support HR Generalist with disciplinary procedures and other HR duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-4 years of talent acquisition or HR experience preferred.
• PHR or SHRM certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Microsoft Office required.
• Proficient in word processing and general computer skills.
• Familiarity with database maintenance, accounting, and HR practices is a plus.
• Excellent planning, organizing, time management, and communication skills required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in recruiting or other HR practices.
• Basic accounting knowledge.
