About the position

The HR Specialist plays a crucial role in managing various functional areas within the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for benefits administration, managing leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, overseeing the workers' compensation program, and promoting health and wellness initiatives. The HR Specialist will also handle compensation matters, maintain accurate records, manage employee relations, facilitate onboarding processes, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires a proactive approach to achieving departmental goals and metrics, as well as the ability to develop recommendations for updating workflows and policies. As a subject matter expert in assigned functional areas, the HR Specialist will perform high-level administrative functions to ensure compliance with regulations and departmental deadlines. This includes maintaining the integrity of employee data in the HRIS database, conducting audits, and analyzing ad-hoc reports. The HR Specialist will serve as a liaison for resolving programming issues related to HRIS systems and will coordinate new hire processing, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and validated. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Specialist will support the compensation program by assisting with salary analyses and annual market analysis processes. They will compile data for annual salary surveys and accurately process employee performance reviews and merit increases in the HRIS database. The role also involves supporting employee relations by reviewing privacy investigations, tracking employee matters, and participating in exit interviews to identify trends. The HR Specialist will coordinate leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, and the workers' compensation program, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. Furthermore, they will manage employee health and welfare programs, including benefits enrollment and open enrollment processes, while ensuring compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The HR Specialist will also coordinate wellness programs and various human resources response plans to meet accreditation and regulatory standards, performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate data entry of new hire and non-employee information.
  • Support the compensation program and assist with salary analyses.
  • Compile data for annual salary surveys and process performance reviews accurately.
  • Review routine privacy investigations and assist with tracking employee relation matters.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Assist managers and employees with required paperwork for leaves of absence.
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Coordinate the Workers' Compensation program and assist with required paperwork.
  • Enroll staff in applicable benefit plans and audit monthly billing statements.
  • Coordinate open enrollment and benefit changes for all staff.
  • Ensure annual ACA compliance is completed accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate the FHCN Wellness Program and develop communication to increase utilization.
  • Review and implement processes to meet accreditation and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or comparable experience.
  • Two years of progressive responsibility in functional areas of human resources.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR technologies and databases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create complex documents and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to compile and analyze information effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems and data management.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Certification in human resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
