About the position

The HR Specialist at Cogent Analytics plays a vital role in managing human resource functions for a utility company that specializes in rapid response and storm chasing. This position is responsible for overseeing employee recruitment, onboarding, performance monitoring, compliance, and communication within the organization. The HR Specialist ensures that all HR processes align with company policies and legal requirements, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the company's operations during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry and maintenance of employee job data in Paychex Flex.
  • Manage employee forms and documentation, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Oversee the end-to-end hiring process, including candidate screening and onboarding.
  • Administer the interview process and coordinate with division managers for candidate assessments.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to employee productivity and storm restoration efforts.
  • Establish and implement an employee evaluation schedule to ensure timely reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and ethical standards in HR practices.
  • Act as a liaison with outside agencies and support services for HR functions.
  • Communicate with management and field staff regarding workforce data and onboarding needs.
  • Review payroll information to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in HR functions with a focus on accuracy and dependability.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Strong communication skills and a team player mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Paychex Flex or similar HRMS systems.
  • Knowledge of DOT driver qualifications and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations.
