About the position

The HR Specialist position at The Odom Corporation is a pivotal role that manages and administers a wide variety of routine and complex responsibilities relating to new hire processing, employee relations, personnel requisitions, job postings, and other duties as assigned. This position is based out of the Boise, ID office and is not remote, with occasional travel to other locations required. The HR Specialist will assist in the daily administration of HR services, including recruitment and selections, workers compensation, promotions, transfers, employee benefits, and the annual performance evaluation process. The role also involves managing employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and the overall objectives of the organization. In this role, the HR Specialist will create, publish, and manage the company's employment opportunities via the HRIS system, which includes reviewing applications, creating offer letters, and onboarding new employees. The position requires auditing and processing all new hire paperwork to ensure completeness and accuracy, including pre-employment drug tests and criminal background checks. Additionally, the HR Specialist will conduct post-hire I-9 checks using the Homeland Security E-Verify program and work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. This includes developing corrective action notices, acting as a liaison between employees and management, managing employee complaints, and conducting exit interviews. The HR Specialist will also complete various employee-related paperwork, update the HRIS system with new hires and pay changes, maintain accurate records of DOT licenses and Medical Certificates, and assist in coordinating employee-related events such as appreciation parties. The role may involve participating in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, anticipating issues, and developing appropriate steps for resolution in consultation with management. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily administration of HR services as directed or assigned, including recruitment and selections, workers compensation, promotions, transfers, employee benefits, and annual performance evaluation process.
  • Create, publish, and manage the company's employment opportunities via the HRIS system, including reviewing applications, creating offer letters, and onboarding new employees.
  • Audit and process all New Hire paperwork, ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to the applicant starting work, including pre-employment drug tests and criminal background checks.
  • Conduct post-hire I-9 checks using the Homeland Security E-Verify program.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Complete a variety of employee-related paperwork such as employment verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Update the HRIS system with new hires, pay changes, transfers, etc.
  • Maintain and track accurate records of DOT licenses and Medical Certificates.
  • Assist in the coordination and/or facilitation of employee-related events such as employee appreciation parties.
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, anticipating issues and developing appropriate steps for resolution.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
