About the position

The HR Specialist at the University of Vermont is responsible for facilitating staff and faculty HR processes, managing personnel actions, and serving as a subject matter expert in HR transactional processes. This role involves reviewing and analyzing electronic personnel action requests, producing reports, and providing guidance to HR generalists to ensure accurate submission of personnel documents. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate staff and faculty HR processes and data management of personnel actions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for staff and faculty HR transactional processes.
  • Review, analyze, and make recommendations for electronic personnel action requests (ePARs), electronic additional payment forms (eAPFs), electronic temporary employee requests (eTemps), and tuition remission.
  • Produce reports regarding staff and faculty personnel actions, including faculty union membership lists and union dues lists.
  • Research discrepancies and facilitate reconciliation of personnel data.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to HR generalists to support accurate submission of personnel documents.
  • Assist in determining union eligibility, earnings codes, and summer retirement contributions.
  • Provide input on staff and faculty HR processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with one to three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with computer software and ability to learn new systems and software.
  • Ability to effectively analyze transactions for accuracy and communicate any errors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
