About the position

The HR Specialist will play a crucial role in managing employee benefits programs and supporting payroll analysis within the organization. This position is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace for employees, particularly those with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Administering benefits, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
• Support payroll processes by ensuring accurate tracking and reconciliation of leave accruals.
• Review, analyze, and report payroll data for compliance and reporting purposes, including EDD, workers' compensation, retirement plans, and leave management.
• Managing employee leave programs (FMLA, PDL, Workers' Compensation, etc.).
• Keeping the organization compliant with regulations and preparing annual reports like HCSO, ACA, and OSHA.
• Supporting new hire orientation and onboarding, ensuring employees start on the right foot.
• Managing the Safety Program to create a secure and compliant workplace.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and/or at least five years of administrative experience, including two years in a similar role.
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now.
• Experience with laws like FMLA, CFRA, and COBRA.

Nice-to-haves

• Nonprofit experience (preferred, but not required).
• A passion for the mission to empower people with disabilities.
