About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at the University of Northern Colorado plays a vital role in the Administrative Service Center (ASC) model, focusing on providing quality, timely, and efficient HR services to stakeholders. This position involves maintaining employee records, managing the hiring process, onboarding new employees, and serving as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries. The specialist will work collaboratively with various departments to ensure effective HR operations and support the university's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain employee information in Banner and ensure records are up-to-date.
  • Verify that all employees have appropriate and approved employment agreements.
  • Enter contract salary information into the payroll system for timely payments.
  • Assist leadership with preparing required search documents for hiring.
  • Post position openings in the PeopleAdmin system and serve as the search coordinator.
  • Schedule interviews and respond to inquiries about job postings.
  • Collect and track new employee documents and answer HR questions from new hires.
  • Request IT systems and software access for new employees as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR-related processes and questions within the unit.
  • Provide staffing information to ASC colleagues and assist in policy development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible, related experience, ideally in higher education.
  • Additional appropriate education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
