About the position

The HR Specialist at Nucor plays a crucial role in managing employee benefits, leave of absence, and workers' compensation while upholding safety standards. This position involves coordinating wellness initiatives, providing HRIS support, and ensuring compliance with multi-state leave laws. The HR Specialist will also oversee various employee benefit programs and act as a resource for employee relations issues, all while demonstrating a commitment to Nucor's vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute division benefits and leave of absence management.
  • Administer workers' compensation and implement wellness initiatives.
  • Provide HRIS support and guidance to users.
  • Administer FMLA and coordinate with multi-state leave laws.
  • Oversee employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, and 401K.
  • Develop open enrollment communication strategies with regional HR teams.
  • Champion wellness initiatives and prepare materials for monthly meetings.
  • Manage leave of absence programs and address programmatic issues.
  • Maintain the Product Group HRIS/Timekeeping system for data integrity.
  • Oversee HRIS support tickets and ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues and policy interpretation.
  • Act as backup to Payroll Administrator during absences or heavy workloads.
  • Manage the Student Scholarship Program.
  • Perform workers' compensation reporting and manage claims.
  • Produce HR metric reports and support ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Perform other related duties in support of HR and business needs.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an HR role.
  • Extensive experience with web-based human resources platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with reporting capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP/Success Factors.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce (Ceridian) HR/Payroll Web Application.
  • Benefits administration experience in a multi-state HR support environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction HR support environment.
