About the position

The HR Specialist at CUNY Eugenio Maria de Hostos Community College is responsible for administering employee benefits and ensuring high-quality customer service. This role involves managing various employee benefits programs, overseeing leaves of absence, and maintaining data integrity of benefits records. The HR Specialist serves as a liaison with various benefits vendors and coordinates communication of policies and procedures while applying relevant laws and guidelines to their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and administers employee benefits coverage including health insurance, dental programs, pension plans, and more.
• Manages all leaves of absence and new hire orientations.
• Ensures data integrity of benefits records and assists with auditing activities.
• Acts as a liaison with CUNY Central Benefits, retirement systems, and health insurance vendors.
• Coordinates communication of policies and procedures; develops and distributes guidelines.
• Maintains an understanding of CUNY rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Serves on various College and University committees.
• Assists with HR Office operations as needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
• Experience in benefits administration preferred.
• Strong work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and HRIS systems.
• Ability to adapt to new technological systems.
