About the position

The HR People Operations Specialist is the primary contact for employees and managers at the Maryland Heights location, responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders to address HR-related inquiries and issues. This role requires a strong understanding of HR laws, compliance, employee relations, and recruitment, and is fully onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Tier one support for all employee relations issues, escalating to appropriate HR partners as needed.
  • Tier one support for all employee questions regarding: benefits, 401(k), timecards, vacation, and compensation.
  • First point of contact for Leaves of Absence and ADA requests. Assist with questions, gather paperwork, administer and track time off.
  • Responsible for onboarding new hires, completing I9s, and assisting with new hire paperwork.
  • Manage time tracking/points program for hourly employees.
  • Full life cycle recruiting for Manufacturing/Non-Exempt level roles.
  • Assist HRBP with corrective action measures as needed.
  • Assist EH&S team with Safety and Worker's Comp cases as needed.
  • Promote a OneBastian mentality, encouraging employees to live by the Bastian Solutions Core Values of: Safety First, Integrity Matters, Customer Focused, Think Big, Be Open, and Keep Growing.
  • Champion internal culture of engagement by participating in, and helping coordinate, site specific engagement events, DE&I initiatives, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide backup support for other Generalists and Specialists when needed.

Requirements

  • Understanding of general HR policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of US employment law
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • BS in HR or a relevant field
  • Tech-savvy, thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask with a can-do attitude
  • Familiarity with ADP HRIS is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and assess when situations need escalated.
