About the position

FIC America Corp., an established automotive parts manufacturer, is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team in Carol Stream, IL. This full-time position plays a crucial role in managing various HR functions, including salary payroll, workers' compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Leave of Absence (LOA) processes. The HR Specialist will be responsible for handling a broad range of HR requests and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a solid understanding of HR practices and employment laws. In this role, the HR Specialist will manage the administration of workers' compensation claims, preparing necessary documentation to ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The specialist will also explain the LOA process to employees and direct them to the appropriate resources for handling their claims. Additionally, the HR Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and verifying payroll data to ensure accuracy, assisting employees with inquiries regarding time off, accruals, and leaves of absence, and providing guidance to managers on employee concerns. The position requires collaboration with departmental personnel to assist with workflow and perform general administrative duties. The HR Specialist will also manage the details and coordination of disciplinary discussions, terminations, and investigations, while adhering to standard work instructions and assisting with various reporting tasks. Compliance with FIC's safety policies and procedures, as well as adherence to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards, is essential in this role. The HR Specialist will also be expected to perform 5-S activities to maintain workplace organization and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Handle worker's compensation administration and manage claims
  • Prepare necessary documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Explain the LOA process and direct employees to the company who handles our LOA claims
  • Responsible for salary payroll
  • Review and verify payroll data to ensure accuracy
  • Assist employees with issues and questions regarding time off, accruals, and leaves of absence
  • Work with departmental personnel to assist with workflow and perform general administrative duties
  • Handle a broad range of HR requests
  • Provide guidance to managers in how to handle employee concerns
  • Manage details and coordination of disciplinary discussions, termination, and investigations
  • Follow standard work instructions
  • Assist with various reporting
  • Perform other duties assigned
  • Comply with FIC's Safety policies and procedures
  • Comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 procedures and standards
  • Perform 5-S activities

Requirements

  • 4+ years of HR Specialist experience OR a combination of professional experience AND Human Resources certificate OR degree
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Ensure professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
  • Payroll experience preferred
  • Workers compensation experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred
  • Must have proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to cross-train
  • Must be able to work company's required overtime
  • Must comply with FIC's Attendance and Punctuality Policy
