About the position

The Store HR Specialist position at Vallarta Supermarkets is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in supporting the Corporate HR Team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in fostering a culture of success within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant federal and state laws, particularly in the areas of Human Resources and Safety Programs. The HR Specialist will act as the primary compliance representative for the store or warehouse, communicating HR and Safety policies to team members and store management. Additionally, the Specialist will address HR and Safety concerns raised by team members, ensuring that inquiries and problems are resolved effectively. The position requires a commitment to Vallarta's Core Values and a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service. The HR Specialist will need to possess excellent planning, time management, decision-making, and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, and being bilingual in Spanish is a significant advantage. The role also demands proficiency in MS Office products, including the ability to create charts and graphs, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct in all communications. Candidates should be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required. The role may involve light lifting of supplies and materials, and the ability to commute to various district locations is necessary. The HR Specialist will be expected to work with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. This position is classified as non-exempt and typically requires working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support all Store HR initiatives as directed by the Human Resources Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and federal and state laws.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of Human Resources and Safety Programs as directed by the Chief People Officer and Risk Management Director.
  • Communicate HR and Safety policies, procedures, and practices to team members and store management.
  • Address team member HR/Safety concerns, inquiries, and problems.
  • Serve as the primary compliance representative for the Human Resource and Risk Management department for the store or warehouse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to delivering extraordinary service.
  • Excellent planning, time management, decision-making, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, bilingual in Spanish (fluent: read, write, and speak).
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including the ability to create charts and graphs.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and accomplish expectations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Labor Laws and/or OSHA Regulations is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Human Resources or Safety compliance roles.
  • Familiarity with E-verify program processes.
