About the position

We are seeking an HR Specialist in Huntsville, Alabama, for an exciting short-term contract employment opportunity. This role is pivotal in assisting with various HR functions, such as recruiting coordination, compliance, record retention, and transitioning to online documentation of employee historical files. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, and ensuring compliance with audits. The HR Specialist will play a crucial role in streamlining processes and ensuring that the HR department operates efficiently and effectively. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and organization within the HR function.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with recruiting coordination by efficiently managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ensuring compliance with audits and maintaining records for multiple agencies
  • Transitioning to online documentation of employee historical files, streamlining the HR process
  • Utilizing HR software, especially Workday, to effectively manage and track applicants
  • Cleaning up files and data for compliance purposes, ensuring a well-organized and efficient HR department
  • Assisting with annual compliance checks of motor vehicles
  • Managing agency notices for affirmative action
  • Interacting professionally with candidates during interviews, articulating next steps clearly
  • Collaborating with another HR generalist located on-site to ensure smooth operation of the HR department
  • Driving policy documents related to HR and ensuring they are up to date and compliant

Requirements

  • Proficiency in ATS - Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Ceridian, HCM, About Time
  • Demonstrated experience in Benefit Functions, Compensation Administration, Compliance, and Hiring Processes
  • Proficiency in Workday software for effective HR management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Familiarity with HR compliance and record-keeping practices
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
