About the position

The HR Specialist at Huhtamaki plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources Manager by administering various HR programs. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with labor laws while managing employee relations, benefits, recruitment, and other HR functions. The HR Specialist will contribute to the company's commitment to sustainability and employee wellbeing as part of Huhtamaki's ambitious 2030 Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Human Resources Manager in administering various human resource programs.
  • Log absenteeism and communicate with managers regarding discipline.
  • Manage insurance claims and issues related to short-term disability, life insurance, and medical/dental enrollments.
  • Maintain employee records and filing systems, including seniority, pay, and benefits.
  • Oversee insurance billing for hourly retirees.
  • Maintain the internal bidding system for hourly employees.
  • Handle hiring processes for full-time and seasonal positions, including job advertisements and orientations.
  • Report headcount for temporary employees and end-of-month reporting for union and salaried headcount.
  • Administer the Employee Service Award program and the Webster Baird Scholarship fund.
  • Provide support for negotiations and administer the Donations Program for the local community.
  • Coordinate data gathering and reporting for the Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Conduct mass mailings to employees and retirees regarding benefits.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in Human Resources.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant experience.
  • 5 years of administrative and clerical experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word processing and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
