About the position

The HR Specialist at Family Connection, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to strengthen families and protect vulnerable children. This position involves providing general HR assistance, including recruiting, staffing, and managing employee relations, under the supervision of the Executive Director. The HR Specialist is responsible for implementing HR programs, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and facilitating effective communication within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Assist the Executive Director in implementing key strategic HR processes and programs.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conduct employee relation investigations and facilitate effective communication to resolve issues.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Participate in functional staff meetings and provide HR insights on business issues.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of HR policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
